What to Bring, What Not to Bring? That is Your Question

You’ve made the decision to pursue treatment for your addiction. It’s the biggest step on the road to recovery, and it’s one to be immensely proud of. But now you have questions – and lots of them. One of the most frequently asked is: “what can I bring?”

You can bring a lot – though you don’t need to! Upon admission, you will receive a welcome caddy including RUSK shampoo, RUSK conditioner, RUSK body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, razor, shaving cream, and deodorant. If you have sensitive skin, you are welcome to bring your own shampoo, body wash, and conditioner so long as they are unopened.

Here are belongings we urge you to pack:

  • 1 photo identification card and medical insurance card
  • All current prescription medications in the original prescription bottles
  • Unopened pack(s) of cigarettes
  • Up to 7 changes of casual, non-revealing shirts
  • Up to 7 changes of pants
  • Up to 2 pairs of sleepwear
  • Up to 2 options of comfortable loose-fitting clothing and 1 pair of sneakers for optional yoga and fitness center activities
  • MP3 player, iPod, Kindle/Electronic Reader – but no items with cameras or 3G or 4G capability
  • Sealed makeup

Here are belongings we urge you to keep at home:

  • Open packs of cigarettes
  • Aerosol product
  • Drugs or alcohol
  • Food of any kind including gum, candy, snacks, drinks
  • Clothing portraying drug use, violence or sexual connotation
  • Electric toothbrushes
  • Spaghetti strap tank tops
  • Short shorts (any shorts more than 2 inches above the knee)
  • Baby powder
  • Cell phones, computers, iPads, tablets, cameras
  • Blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals
  • Nail polish or nail polish remover
  • Hair dye
  • Razors of any kind
  • Tanning spray
  • Cologne, perfume or body spray
  • Curling irons or flat irons
  • Weight and exercise equipment
  • Protein powder, bodybuilding supplements, diet pills
  • Pocket knives and utility knifes
